As part of their social welfare initiative, Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano brought livelihood assistance to the cities of Bacolod and of Silay in Negros Occidental, benefiting a total of 752 individuals through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
The beneficiaries, including Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), and the women’s sector, expressed gratitude for the assistance as they have been facing significant economic hardships.
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, representatives of the senators distributed aid to 440 beneficiaries at Bacolod City College, providing a substantial boost to help with their daily expenses.
The following day, June 14, the offices of the senators extended assistance to another 312 individuals at the Silay Civic and Cultural Center.
In addition, Senator Pia’s office conducted a maternal seminar in support of prenatal and postnatal care for women, children, and their families.
The success of the program was made possible through a partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez and Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego, both of whom expressed gratitude to the Cayetano siblings for bringing this timely program to their cities.
The AICS program provides educational, medical, and burial assistance, offering hope and immediate relief to vulnerable sectors across the country. In 2024 alone, nearly 50,000 beneficiaries have received support from the sibling senators’ initiative.
Continuing their mission, more cities are set to receive assistance to ensure that those in need receive timely and essential aid.
