NTF official lauds Taguig’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts

TAGUIG CITY, June 25, 2021 – National Task Force against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vivencio “Vince” Dizon on Friday lauded the local government of Taguig City for successfully increasing its number of COVID-19 vaccinations per day in a span of one month.

“Napakaswerte ng City of Taguig dahil mayroon silang isang mayor na napaka-dynamic at napaka-hardworking katulad ni Mayor Lino,” Dizon said during the COVID-19 vaccination of Filipino seafarers at the Lakeshore Trade Center in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City on June 25.

(The City of Taguig is fortunate to have a dynamic and hardworking city mayor like Mayor Lino.)

“Mga one month ago, ang Taguig po ay nagbabakuna siguro ng mga 2,000 a day. Ngayon po, kahapon, ang binakunahan po ng City of Taguig ay 12,000 sa isang araw,” he added.

(Around one month ago, Taguig was inoculating only 2,000 people per day. But yesterday, it was able to inoculate around 12,000 in just one day.)

Dizon also recognized the efforts of the health and medical workers of Taguig as well as the support given by former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Pia Cayetano, Taguig 2nd District Rep. Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, and City Vice Mayor Ricardo “Ading” Cruz, Jr.

“Salamat kay Speaker Alan, Senator Pia, Cong. Lani, [at] Vice Ading. Maraming maraming salamat po sa pagmamahal at serbisyo niyo hindi lamang sa Lungsod ng Taguig, kung hindi sa buong Pilipinas,” he said.

(Thank you, Speaker Alan, Senator Pia, Cong. Lani, and Vice Ading, for your love and service not only for the City of Taguig, but for the whole nation as well.)

“I think napakaganda pong selebrasyon ‘to, kasi what better way to celebrate the Seafarers’ Day than to start the process of liberating yourself from COVID-19 with your first shots of Pfizer vaccine today?” Dizon added.

(I think this is a good way to celebrate, because what better way to celebrate the Seafarers’ Day than to start the process of liberating yourself from COVID-19 with your first shots of Pfizer vaccine today?)

In a statement published in its official website on June 14, the local government of Taguig said it was able to exceed its expected daily target of 6,800 vaccinations with an almost ‘zero dropout’ rate.

“This was due to the increased number of people who want to be vaccinated, the ease of booking and scheduling, and also the hard work of the city’s healthcare workers. The local government of Taguig continues to be aggressive in its vaccination efforts, as it recently commenced its massive vaccination rollout for A4 Workers,” the statement said.

The statement also said the local government has 12 vaccination sites placed in strategic areas in Taguig along with home vaccination service for bedridden family members and vaccination buses to make it more accessible.

According to the release, a total of 143,512 Taguigeños and workers in Taguig who are part of the A1, A2, A3, and A4 categories have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of June 12, bringing it closer to its target of inoculating 680,000 eligible Taguigeños by the end of the year.
