Cayetano team aids flood-hit areas in Parañaque, Cavite, Las Piñas
The Emergency Response Team of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Sunday delivered hot meals and drinks to flood-affected residents in parts of Parañaque, Cavite, and Las Piñas as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to bring rains over Luzon and the western Visayas.
In Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City, the team provided support to barangay responders and rescue personnel involved in cleanup and recovery operations.
Barangay Chairman Noel Japlos said no casualties were recorded in the area. He added that responders were continuing to clear fallen trees and clean creeks and canals to help prevent further flooding.
In Cavite, the team also supprted affected residents, barangay staff, and rescuers. Barangay Captain Benedicto Camia said no casualties were reported and that affected families remained in the evacuation center, where they continued to receive assistance and monitoring.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Talon Tres, Las Piñas City, the team reached flood-affected residents, baarangay staff, and responders as floodwaters began to subside and evacuees started returning home.
The barangay officials expressed their appreciation for Cayetano’s continued assistance during the emergency, with Barangay Talon Tres Chairman Chris Lucena noting that Cayetano has supported their community since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The relief operations came as PAGASA warned that the Southwest Monsoon would continue to bring rains over Luzon and the western section of the Visayas.
Cayetano’s Emergency Response Team is continuing its relief operations today, August 10, in Taytay, Tanay, and Rodriguez in Rizal, as well as in Bacoor City, General Trias, and Naic in Cavite, reaching communities affected by flooding.
