Senate Minority stands firm amid changing political alliances

Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday said the Minority bloc remains steadfast in its vision, principles, and commitment to God and the Filipino people even as political alliances continue to evolve in the 20th Congress.

“Senate coalitions may change, but our vision, principles, and commitment to God and to the Filipino people remain steadfast,” the Minority Leader wrote on Facebook on October 8, 2026.

He made this statement after Senator Mark Villar reportedly moved to join the Senate Majority bloc. His sister, Senator Camille Villar, remains a member of the Minority.

Cayetano said their group will continue to “fulfill its constitutional responsibilities as fiscalizers and constructive oppositionists, upholding the rights of every Filipino and respecting both God’s laws and the laws of man, particularly the Philippine Constitution.”

The Minority Leader also said he “recognizes the circumstances and considerations that may lead to changes in political alliances,” including the importance of the administration maintaining a closely allied working Majority in the Senate.

“Regardless of how the political landscape shifts, our duty remains unchanged. We will continue to stand for what is right, uphold our institutions, and work for the good of our nation,” he said.

As the country moves forward, Cayetano said the bloc will continue to pray for the nation and wished Senator Mark Villar and all colleagues well.

“May God grant us all the wisdom, humility, and strength to faithfully serve Him and the Filipino people,” he said.

“Senate coalitions may change, but our vision, principles, and commitment to God and to the Filipino people remain steadfast,” wika ng Minority Leader sa Facebook nitong October 8, 2026.

Sinabi ni Cayetano na patuloy na gagampanan ng kanilang grupo ang kanilang tungkuling nakasaad sa Constitution bilang “fiscalizers and constructive oppositionists, upholding the rights of every Filipino and respecting both God’s laws and the laws of man, particularly the Philippine Constitution.”

“Regardless of how the political landscape shifts, our duty remains unchanged. We will continue to stand for what is right, uphold our institutions, and work for the good of our nation,” wika ng senador.

“May God grant us all the wisdom, humility, and strength to faithfully serve Him and the Filipino people,” aniya.
