10K Ayuda program reaches out to food security frontliners

Forty (40) poultry and livestock raisers from Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija received 10K Ayuda from former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and his allies through the Sampung Libong Pag-asa program on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

The beneficiaries come from Central Luzon, the top chicken, duck, and duck egg producing region in the country from July to December 2020. The area is also one of the top producers of chicken egg, cattle, hog, and goat.

Central Luzon used to be the top producing region for hogs, but its share in hog production decreased during the second semester of 2020.

During the Wednesday livestream of the program, Maximina Endaya Accad, a poultry raiser and a widow with 10 children, showcased her poultry farm and shared how 10K Ayuda helped expand her poultry and increase her income.

“Y’ung unang una po kami nag-alaga noong November 2020, tig-iisang daan lang ang inaalagaan ko. Tapos paisa-isa din ako nagpapagawa ng tangkal kasi ang puhunan ko lang ay limited,” Accad, who was one of the beneficiaries of the program’s June 18 edition, shared in a video.

(When we first started in November 2020, we only had 100 broiler chickens. We were also only building cages one by one because our capital was limited.)

Accad said she was able to add 100 broiler chickens and 20 hens to her poultry farm and feed them using 10K Ayuda. Because of this, she earned P7,000.

“Ngayon, medyo dumami na. Tig-200 na y’ung alaga namin mula nung nakakuha ng 10K Ayuda,” she added.

(Now, I have more [broiler chickens] and have a total of 200 [broiler chickens] since we received 10K Ayuda.)

Before the pandemic, she used to earn P150 to P200 per day (or P7,000 per one and a half month) from selling 100 45-day chickens at P70 each. Due to COVID-19, her income decreased to P3,500.

With 10K Ayuda, she is now able to earn as much as she used to before the pandemic.

The local chief executives from the receiving provinces also expressed gratitude to Cayetano and his group.

“Nakita po namin na talagang napakalahaga nito sa kanila at talagang karamihan po sa kanila ay umaasa na lang sa mga bigay, mga ayuda ng pamahalaan,” Bulakan Municipal Administrator Dr. Reynaldo Gloria said.

(We saw how the majority of them really depended on the relief provided by the government.)

“Tunay na mararamdaman po ng mga Pilipino y’ung ating gobyerno sa kanilang pamilya, sa kanilang mga pansariling buhay kung maisusulong itong batas na isinusulong ni Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano,” Concepcion, Tarlac Mayor Andres Lacson said.

(The people will truly feel the government once this proposed bill by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is passed.)

Launched on May 1, 2021, the Sampung Libong Pag-asa program gives P10,000 in financial assistance to select individuals affected by the pandemic.

As of October 11, a total of 11,932 have already received the cash assistance.

Cayetano spearheaded the initiative in order to push for the inclusion of the P10,000 financial aid provision per family under the Bayanihan 3.
