Cayetano to new Taguig admin: Give more of yourselves to fellow Taguigeños

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday urged the new administration of the Taguig City Government to be willing to go the extra mile for their fellow Taguigeños in order to provide the best service possible.

“I humbly ask you, both as a citizen of Taguig and as a leader of our political party, na let’s give more. Let’s be the real ‘salt and light,’” Cayetano said, addressing Taguig’s newly sworn-in officials led by his wife Mayor Lani Cayetano and their personnel during the re-dedication of Taguig City Hall on June 30, 2022.

The Senator noted that there have been many major improvements in the City’s delivery of social and administrative services under Mayor Lani, who served from 2010 to 2019, and his brother, outgoing Mayor Lino Cayetano, from 2019 to 2022.

He added, however, that officials and personnel must continually innovate because “wala pong perfect sa atin, at definitely ang sistema po natin ay hindi perpekto.”

“Sana every single day – sa sarili n’yo, y’ung desk niyo, y’ung opisina n’yo – anong kaya nating gawin to make it more convenient, efficient, comfortable sa ating mga mamamayan [ay gawin niyo],” he said.

He said he hopes the new City Hall personnel are up to the challenge of “giving more” of themselves to their fellow Taguigeños especially as various challenges drag on, such as price hikes and the resumption of face-to-face classes.

Cayetano challenged them to build a positive image of the City Hall before the City Government transfers to the new City Hall building, which might take two to three years to finish construction.

“Let’s ask ourselves sa lahat ng gagawin natin sa gusaling ito at sa hinahandang bagong city hall, ‘What are we willing to give?’” he said.

“Bago natin iwanan ang gusaling ito na puno ng history, burahin natin ang image na ating City Hall po ay isang lugar na ayaw mong puntahan dahil may mga negative na experiences,” he added.

Cayetano also thanked and congratulated the outgoing City Hall personnel under Mayor Lino who he said “devoted themselves” to addressing the challenges to the City during the peak of the pandemic.

“Sa lahat po ng naglingkod sa panahon ng pandemic in the last three years, from the bottom of our hearts, ng buong pamilya Cayetano, maraming salamat sa inyo,” he said.
