Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and his allies in Congress on Wednesday announced 136 new beneficiaries of the Sampung Libong Pag-asa program, bringing the number of beneficiaries up to 5,107.
“Tinutulak natin ang gobyerno na sana gawing programa ‘to — ginawa naman natin last year sa SAP [at] malaki naman budget this year [at] next year. Kaya ng gobyerno na bigyan ng P10,000 ang bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” Cayetano said during the fifth episode of Sari-saring Bayanihan broadcast live on his official Facebook page on July 14.
(We are pushing for the government to make this a program — we were able to do this last year with the Social Amelioration Program and we have the budget for this year and next year. The government can provide Filipino families with P10,000 in cash aid each.)
The 136 new beneficiaries come from different parts of the country, including Laguna, Davao del Norte, and Sarangani.
Sari-saring Bayanihan is a short online program hosted by Cayetano and his allies in which they interact with the livestream audience and choose additional beneficiaries for their flagship programs: Sampung Libong Pag-asa and Sari-sari Store Community.
The Sampung Libong Pag-asa program was launched by Cayetano and his allies in Congress on May 1 as part of their campaign to include the P10,000 in cash aid provision under the proposed Bayanihan 3.
It showcases a key part of Cayetano’s economic recovery plan to assist Filipino families with cash assistance to help them purchase their basic needs and revive their sources of income amid the ongoing pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Sari-sari Store Community is a nationwide program that aims to provide sari-sari store owners with capital and microenterprise training. It draws inspiration from Cayetano’s “Presyo, Trabaho, Kita” program which he launched in 2013 to help different cooperatives from all over the country grow.
On Friday, July 16, 400 beneficiaries from Quezon City and 100 other beneficiaries nationwide are expected to receive 10K Ayuda from Cayetano and his allies during the Quezon City Edition of Sampung Libong Pag-asa.
According to Cayetano, they will also announce 230 other beneficiaries who sent their comments during today’s Facebook live streams.
