Cayetano’s 10K Ayuda program reaches Muslim communities; beneficiaries rise to 6,309

Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday celebrated the Eid al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice) with various Muslim communities nationwide in the Eid al-Adha Edition of Sampung Libong Pag-asa where 465 beneficiaries received the 10K Ayuda.

The program brought the number of beneficiaries up to 6,309 as of July 20, 2021.

“If there is one special occasion na we can start looking at things we can agree on, ito y’un (this is it),” Cayetano said during the program on July 20.

“Today, in our small way, magkakaisa tayong Muslim at Kristiyano at hahanap tayo ng halos 500 na matutulungan (all of us Muslims and Christians are one in searching for almost 500 beneficiaries we can help) through Sampung Libong Pag-asa and God willing, we can show the world that in the Philippines, iba-iba man ang ating paniniwala (although we have different beliefs), lahat tayo (all of us), we know how to honor God and love each other,” he added.

Out of the 465 beneficiaries, 350 were pre-selected in coordination with the local governments of Barangay Maharlika in Taguig City, Zamboanga City, Pagadian City, Cagayan de Oro City, Province of Cotabato, and Manila City.

One-hundred (100) beneficiaries were chosen from the audience of the virtual event’s Facebook livestream, while 15 others were personally picked by Cayetano during the program.

“Sana sa araw na ito na Feast of the Sacrifice, magawa rin natin y’ung sakripisyo na talagang tumulong,” Cayetano said.

(Hopefully, on this day, we are able to sacrifice and help others.)

Cayetano, his wife Taguig 2nd District Rep. Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, and Taguig City Councilor Yasser Pangandaman led Tuesday’s programs.

They were joined via satellite by Barangay Maharlika Chairperson Hareem P. Pautin, Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco, Pagadian City Mayor Samuel “Sammy” Co, Pagadian City Councilor Tyra Co, Cagayan de Oro City ABC President Alam Lim, Barangay 17 Chairperson Goldman “Bingo” Ebabacol from Cagayan de Oro City, Cotabato Provincial Governor Nancy Catamco, Cotabato Liga ng Barangay President Dulia Sultan, a representative of Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, and Manila Muslim Affairs Head Shey Shakuran Mohammad.

The Sampung Libong Pag-asa program, which was launched on May 1, takes off from Cayetano’s economic recovery plan which seeks to distribute cash aid to Filipino families to help them purchase their basic needs and revive their source of income amid the ongoing pandemic.###
