Cayetanos join forces with TESDA to help mothers achieve dream

“Maraming salamat po sa sponsorship ninyo sa TESDA. Happy Mother’s Day po, Senator Pia Cayetano and be happy!”

This was Mary Grace Llaguno’s advance Mother’s Day message to Senator Pia Cayetano as one of the 60 scholars who completed Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) training and received valuable assistance via tool kits in Marikina City.

The 60 scholars, who took up certification for the Cookery NC III course at the Philippine Academy for Technical and Vocational Skills, Inc. (PATVSI), received the toolkits for cooking and baking from Senator Pia and her brother Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday that would equip them with the necessary resources to succeed in their vocational career.

All students finished the courses through the sponsorship of the sibling senators in partnership with TESDA in Marikina City.

Llaguno shared that as a mom, some of her best memories with family usually involved cooking good food at home.

“The best po y’ung magkasama kami tuwing Pasko na kasama ko pati asawa ko. OFW kasi siya. Magandang bonding ang magluto kaya the best for me ay sa bahay na magkakasama,” she said at the handover of toolkits held at Twinville Covered Court in Barangay Tumana on May 9, 2024.

Additionally, 70 scholars from Asiantouch International Training Institute, Inc. who took up Bread and Pastry NC II certification joined the handover ceremony. They also received toolkits from the Cayetanos.

All the students from PATVSI and Asiantouch International were also provided with aprons care of the senator siblings’ show, Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda.

The event in Marikina City was done in coordination with TESDA, PATVSI, and initiated by former Barangay Captain Ziffred Ancheta.

TESDA PAMAMARISAN Director Maria Gerty Pagaran, TESDA Industry Specialist Les Navarro, PATVSI President Yolanda Olano, and Asiantouch International Training Institute President Mikhail Rodriguez were also present in the event in support of the occasion.

95 more reached in Muntinlupa, Mandaluyong

Simultaneously, the Cayetano team, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also visited the cities of Muntinlupa and Mandaluyong on May 9 to provide livelihood assistance to 95 more individuals in need.

This was done through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program, which is one of DSWD’s social welfare services that offers aid in the form of food, livelihood, medical, educational, among others, to various families and individuals in need.

In Muntinlupa City, 34 teachers and Padel coaches were given assistance to help them with their daily living.

In Mandaluyong City, 61 fire victims were reached out to help them recover from the fire that razed Barangay Poblacion in early March of this year.

On top of providing recovery aid for the victims, a medical desk was also set up by the senators’ team to extend help to those with health needs.

Both events were made possible through the leadership of Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon and Mandaluyong City Councilor Rodolfo “Kuyog” Posadas.

These three events emphasize the Cayetanos’ initiative for government support to our kababayan, highlighting the power of collaboration and fortifying commitment to assist those in need.
