Not wanting to set aside the needs of victims of previous disasters, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday extended assistance to hundreds of flood victims in Noveleta, Cavite.
The 248 recipients, who were victimized by severe tropical storm Paeng that hit the region in October 2022, received P3,000 in cash aid each under Cayetano’s Emergency Response Department (ERD) program.
The residents were also able to request help with their medical expenses – hospital bills, laboratory fees, medical procedures, and medicines – through a help desk.
The ERD and the medical help desk is part of Senators Alan and Pia Cayetano’s joint initiative called ‘Bayanihan Caravan,’ which visits various parts of the country to provide various assistance to Filipino families in need.
Roslyn Caranto, one of the recipients, thanked the sibling senators for the “huge help.”
“Maraming salamat po dahil makakatulong po ito sa akin sa pagkain at pang-gastos araw-araw,” Caranto said.
The other recipients shared Caranto’s sentiment, with some saying they will use the assistance for their children’s education needs.
The caravan was organized with the help of Noveleta Vice Mayor Arlynn Torres, Councilor Dave Manalo, and Rev. Emer Jason Grepo.
