Kuya Alan’s Sampung Libong Pag-asa honors hard-working fathers on special episode

The office of Senator Alan Peter “Compañero” Cayetano on Wednesday honored hard-working Filipino fathers by giving them assistance to grow and augment their sources of income in a special episode of the senator’s Sampung Libong Pag-Asa (SLP) program.

The SLP program, which was first introduced by Cayetano in 2021, provides assistance worth P10,000 to thousands of Filipino families for their economic recovery (pang-ahon) and temporary relief (pantawid) during difficult financial situations.

The special episode aired on June 21, 2023 and featured 55 father-beneficiaries from all over Metro Manila.

The beneficiaries work in various sectors, including security personnel, laborers, electricians, construction workers, delivery drivers, food vendors, and barangay tanod.

City of Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the senator’s team in the handover of assistance. In her speech, she commended the fathers for all the hard work they do to provide for and guide their children.

“Marami sa inyo ay kalsada ang opisina – namamasada, nagde-deliver ng goods. Napakahirap ng inyong pang-araw-araw na trabaho,” she told the fathers.

She also requested them to manage the assistance wisely.

“Napakasarap tulungan ang mga taong tinutulungan ang kanilang sarili. Sana mag-multiply pa nang mag-multiply ang P10K na natanggap ninyo,” she said.

Cayetano first introduced the SLP program in 2021 to complement the 10K Ayuda Bill, which he filed in the House of Representatives during the 18th Congress. He intended the bill to provide every Filipino family with P10,000-worth of assistance to help them overcome the economic hardships amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now as Senator in the 19th Congress, Cayetano continues to push for the SLP to provide for the same benefits through the proposed Sampung Libong Pag-asa Law (Senate Bill No. 62) after it was not included in the enacted Bayanihan 3 COVID-19 package. ###
