Mayor Lani Cayetano issues first EO establishing Taguig-wide moral uprightness program

Newly sworn-in Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano recently signed her first Executive Order establishing a city-wide moral uprightness program and institutionalizing faith-based and values-oriented leadership in Metro Manila’s fourth most-populous city.

“Napapaloob po sa executive order na ito, una, ang pagsisiguro na ang bawat kawani ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Taguig ay maglilingkod ng may katapatan at integridad, at ang mabigat nating laban sa korapsyon,” Mayor Cayetano said during the signing of the order at City Hall on June 30, 2022.

Taguig City Executive Order No. 2022-01 Series of 2022 formally establishes the Moral Uprightness and Values Formation Program, under which the city government will conduct mandatory seminars, conventions, and lectures on moral uprightness for all city officials and employees.

The order also calls for the establishment of school-based and barangay-based programs to encourage moral uprightness and values formation among the youth and in the city’s communities.

She also pointed out that as part of her first Executive Order, City Hall shall establish a complaint desk where Taguig residents can report suspected corruption in the local government.

Mayor Cayetano encouraged all Taguig city officials and government employees, as well as Senator Alan Peter Cayetano who was present during the signing, to abide by the executive order and hit the ground running on their first official day at work.

Halina po kayo, marami ho tayong trabaho,” she added.

In the signing ceremony, the mayor also rededicated the city to God, echoing a similar move in 2010 when she first assumed the office.

At the time, she recalled, she issued her first Executive Order dedicating the city government to God and declaring that Taguig was the “City of the Lord” in order to institutionalize a deeper sense of purpose among all of the city’s public servants.

Mayor Cayetano concluded her remarks by rallying the city’s elected officials and government workers to honor God by fulfilling their duties to the public with integrity.

“Once again, I am ready and excited to work with all of you. Sana po ay ganun din ang commitment na ibibigay ng bawat isa sa inyo,” she said.

“Let us continue to honor God, and to serve the public sa lahat ng gagawin natin, una ikalulugod ng Panginoon at ikaliligaya ng ating mga kababayang Taguigeno,” she added. ####
