Senators Alan and Pia provide social welfare aid to mothers and vulnerable groups in Cavite

“Dahil sa hirap po ng buhay ngayon, napaka-challenging po maging single mom na nagtataguyod ng limang anak. Malaking tulong po ito sa kanilang pag-aaral. Maraming salamat po sa inyo!”

Lileth Bucao, a quality control worker and a single mother from General Trias, tearfully expressed her gratitude to Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano for including her among the 2,667 residents of General Trias, Cavite City and Tagaytay City who received livelihood assistance.

The distribution was held on May 6, 2024, for Cavite and May 8 for Tagaytay as part of the sibling senators’ nationwide social welfare mission.

The allocation of assistance catered to recipients from various sectors, including women’s organizations, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from the Kababaihan sector, senior citizens, youth groups, solo parents, and beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Evelyn Maranan, a widow from Tagaytay who now serves as a Christian minister, expressed similar sentiments and thanked the sibling senators. According to her, the assistance provided was immensely beneficial for their sari-sari store.

“Maraming salamat po, may pang dagdag na po kami sa aming business. Malaking tulong po ito para sa pang araw-araw namin na gastos,” Maranan said.

The distribution was made successful through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program, in coordination with the local government of General Trias, Cavite headed by Mayor Jonjon Ferrer and the local government of Tagaytay City led by Mayor Bambol Tolentino.

“Maraming salamat po sa pagtulong sa aming mga kababayan. Isa po kayo sa mga hindi nakakalimot sa amin,” Ferrer said.

“Sa lahat po ng laban ninyo, kami po ay kasama niyo. Kasama po kayo sa aming mga panalangin at sana po ay mas marami pa kayong matulungan,” he added.

In addition to the distribution, medical desks were set up to gather information from beneficiaries interested in the upcoming medical caravan in their area organized by the senators.

This week, residents from Bulacan, Mandaluyong, and Muntinlupa will also benefit from the AICS program of the Cayetanos and the DSWD.

As part of the many social welfare initiatives of the Cayetanos, the AICS program aims to support the Filipino people and enhance their livelihoods, particularly those who are dealing with the harsh effects of the economic crisis.
