Cayetano to Lacson: Show evidence behind ‘wasted’ Lakeshore funds claim
Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano defended Taguig Lakeshore’s continued public use amid claims by Senator Panfilo Lacson that billions in government funds were wasted on flood control and infrastructure projects in the area.
In a post on National Heroes Day, Cayetano said Lakeshore had not been neglected or wasted under Taguig’s management, pointing to its use for health, education, leisure, businesses, and other public functions.
“Hindi po sinayang at hindi sinasayang ang Lakeshore. Let’s not let politics rob this generation and future generations of the opportunity to reap its benefits,” Cayetano said.
Cayetano made the post after Lacson said P3.713 billion in completed, ongoing, and suspended DPWH projects within alleged reclamation areas in Taguig may have been wasted. Lacson also alleged other irregularities and said the findings would be submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Minority Leader warned that this kind of partisan politics could derail efforts to address corruption and flood control, stressing the need for evidence-based investigations that lead to accountability.
“The honest search for solutions is overshadowed by partisan politics. Corruption and flood control are perfect examples,” Cayetano said.
“If there is evidence against DPWH, Taguig, or against me, then present it. Stop the theatrics and let the evidence do the talking set in the proper judicial venue where fairness is assured,” he challenged Lacson.
Cayetano said the focus should remain on solving problems and ensuring that public funds and government efforts are directed toward projects and reforms that benefit Filipinos.
“Every hour the government spends on political warfare instead of solving problems is wasted. Every peso spent on projects that do not serve the people is wasted. Every opportunity to reform a broken system sacrificed for personal or partisan advantage is wasted,” he said.

Iginiit ni Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano na patuloy na napapakinabangan ng publiko ang Taguig Lakeshore kasunod ng alegasyon ni Senator Panfilo Lacson na bilyun-bilyong pisong pondo ng gobyerno ang maaaring nasayang sa mga flood control at infrastructure projects sa lugar.
Sa kanyang post nitong National Heroes Day, binigyang diin ni Cayetano ang paggamit ng Lakeshore para sa health, education, leisure, negosyo, at iba pang public functions.
“Hindi po sinayang at hindi sinasayang ang Lakeshore. Let’s not let politics rob this generation and future generations of the opportunity to reap its benefits,” wika ni Cayetano.
Nauna rito, sinabi ni Lacson na posibleng nasayang ang P3.713 billion na inilaan sa completed, ongoing, at suspended DPWH projects sa mga lugar na sinasabing bahagi ng illegal reclamation areas sa Taguig. Ayon kay Lacson, may iba pa umanong iregularidad na dapat imbestigahan at isusumite ang findings sa Office of the Ombudsman.
Nagbabala naman si Cayetano na maaaring maapektuhan ng pamumulitika ang paghahanap ng solusyon sa corruption at flood control. Aniya, dapat nakabatay sa ebidensya ang mga imbestigasyon at humantong sa pananagutan.

Hinamon din ni Cayetano si Lacson na ilabas ang ebidensya kung may pananagutan siya, ang DPWH, o Taguig sa mga alegasyon.

Ayon pa kay Cayetano, dapat manatiling nakatuon ang gobyerno sa paglutas ng mga problema at pagtiyak na napapakinabangan ng mga Pilipino ang bawat pondong ginagastos.
