Cayetano to Taguig youth leaders: Put integrity at heart of governance
Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Saturday urged young leaders in Taguig to make integrity a core value of leadership and stressed that good governance begins with self-discipline and personal accountability.
Speaking at the Taguig Youth Leaders Workshop at Taguig Lakeshore Community Park on September 19, Cayetano said young people must have opportunities to discuss issues and help shape their communities.
“I want to leave you with the thought that integrity will be at the center of leadership,” he said.
“That’s what we’re trying to build in Taguig. Governance, a system that first starts with God, then with you, and then full of integrity,” he added.
Cayetano said self-discipline is essential to good governance, explaining that when people cannot govern themselves, authorities must step in.
“Can I lay on your feet [the value of] self-governance? It’s the most effective. Kasi kahit anong sabihin sa’yo ng parents mo, ng Diyos, ng principal mo, ng presidente, if you don’t discipline yourself, walang governance,” he said.
Cayetano said Taguig’s leaders want the next generation to inherit a developed city where they can build their future and take pride in their community.
“In Taguig, Mayor Lani Cayetano wants you to inherit a well-developed, a city you can be proud of. The best place to live in, the best place to do business at,” he said.
He thanked the participants for their commitment to leadership and urged them to discuss their ideas and bring their recommendations to the city council, barangays and national government.
He said these discussions would help young people contribute to decisions and policies affecting their communities.
“I just want to honor you and thank you for being here today because it means your being a youth leader is important to you,” Cayetano said.

Hinimok ni Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano nitong Sabado ang mga youth leaders sa Taguig na gawing pundasyon ng kanilang pamumuno ang integridad at pananagutan.
Sa kanyang mesahe sa Taguig Youth Leaders Workshop sa Taguig Lakeshore Community Park nitong September 19, sinabi ni Cayetano na nagsisimula ang maayos na pamamahala sa disiplina sa sarili at pagiging responsable sa sariling mga kilos.

Binigyang diin ni Cayetano na nagsisimula ang maayos na pamamahala sa disiplina sa sarili.

Ayon sa senador, layunin ng mga leader sa Taguig na maipamana sa susunod na henerasyon ang isang maunlad na lungsod na maipagmamalaki ng mga kabataan at kung saan maaari nilang itayo ang kanilang kinabukasan.

Pinasalamatan din ni Cayetano ang mga dumalo sa workshop at hinimok silang ibahagi ang kanilang mga idea at rekomendasyon sa konseho ng lungsod, mga barangay at sa national government.
Sa pamamagitan nito, mas magkakaroon ng pagkakataon ang mga kabataan na makibahagi sa mga desisyon at patakarang nakaaapekto sa kanilang mga komunidad.
