An Act Providing for the Modernization of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and Providing Funds Therefor

This bill proposes a comprehensive plan to strengthen PHIVOLCS’s capabilities and envisions the establishment of basic seismic monitoring systems at all 24 active volcanoes in the country, up from the current 10, to better understand and predict seismic activity, thereby reducing the risk to life and property. Additionally, it would increase the number of seismic stations for earthquake monitoring from 125 to 300.
