Alan, Pia, Boy honor hardworking Filipinos on Labor Day

Senator Alan Peter “Compañero” S. Cayetano, together with Senator Pia Cayetano and King of Talk Boy Abunda took to social media on the eve of Labor Day to express their gratitude to hard working Filipino laborers.

“It’s a very, very special day today,” Senator Alan said in a Facebook Live on April 30, 2023, pertaining to Labor Day.

Through a question posed by Senator Alan, Boy Abunda gave an encouraging message to Filipino workers, in particular to his kababayan in Samar, who are working hard amid struggles.

“Everything passes. May nadinig akong talumpati na sinasabi na ‘success is actually a series of failures and struggles.’ Hindi ka pupuwedeng maging matagumpay sa buhay kung hindi ka magdadaan sa mga pagsubok,” the King of Talk said.

Talking about his kababayan in Samar, he said: “Hindi kami tamad mag work. We’re not strangers to poverty. When people talk about poverty and people being forgotten, ‘ika nga ng aking ina, hindi po ito konsepto sa amin, totoo po iyan.”

Abunda said hope helps people thrive and succeed. “Pero ang mayroon kami ay sense of laban at pag-asa dahil hangga’t merong pag-asa ang iyong puso, lalaban at lalaban ka para mapaganda ang iyong buhay. Hindi lamang ito para sa iyong pamilya, kundi ng lahat ng tao,” he said.

Abunda also thanked people, including the Cayetano siblings, who continue to extend help to Samar Province.

“At dahil sa tulong ng maraming tao katulad nina Kuya Alan at Ate Pia, at ng mga kababayan po natin, we would never lose hope. At masisipag kami. We are a good people, hard working people. Maraming salamat po!” he said.

For her part, Senator Pia, a known women’s rights advocate, took time to honor women for their hard work, especially for the millions of Filipino households.

“Ang concept na hindi pa naririnig ng lahat ay ang kababaihan — women are unpaid workers. Kasi yung trabaho ng mga babae sa bahay, walang nagbabayad sa kanila, walang sweldo, overtime, at benefits iyon,” she said.
“So para makita natin ang buong kontribusyon nila sa ekonomiya, sabi ng iba ng economists, kailangan nila ang mga kontribusyon ng mga kababaihan sa sariling bahay. That is why today I honor you and I will continue to make laws for more opportunities and recognition of our women,” she added.

The show’s hosts also expressed their gratitude to the staff and production team of Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda (CIA with BA), the legal advice TV program that is taping its second season.

“Para sa lahat po ng gumagawa ng trabaho, at itong pagta-taping po namin for season 2, allow me to be the first to thank every single one that is working for the show. Salamat sa inyo at Happy Labor Day. God bless you!” Senator Alan said.

Senator Pia added that the show’s hosts are “honored to have this opportunity to serve our country through our education, yung mga pinag-aralan natin sa batas.”

“And of course, with the one and only Kuya Boy Abunda. But today we honor our crew, our team, my lawyers, our lawyers, lahat yung mga nagtatrabaho para mabuo itong show. Pati ang followers natin sa show – you are all workers so we honor you,” she said.

Wrapping up the short Facebook Live, Senator Alan again honored the production team of the show.

“On behalf of our show, sa CIA with BA, wala pong Cayetano, wala pong In Action, wala pong Boy Abunda, kung hindi po sa ating writers, sa ating mga nasa production, sa ating pong mga nagsascout, sa mga nag-aalam ng storya, sa researchers natin, sa mga nagaayos ng lahat ng stage, hindi man namin kayo mapasalamatan ng isa isa, God bless you at maraming maraming salamat!” ###
