Bulaceños in need receive livelihood assistance from Cayetanos

Alexander Reyes, a senior citizen from San Nicolas, Bulacan, currently faces the burden of the economic crisis. With no source of income due to his age, he couldn’t help expressing his gratitude to Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano for including him among the thousands of beneficiaries who received livelihood assistance in their province.

“Malaking tulong po ito sa aking maintenance. Napakahirap na po ng buhay ngayon. Magagamit ko po ito sa pang-araw-araw naming pangangailangan,” Reyes said.

A total of 1,500 Bulakeños received much needed livelihood assistance from the offices of the two senators on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program.

The two-part distribution provided essential aid to calamity victims, the women’s sector, and barangay volunteers.

The distribution was carried out in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and in coordination with the local government of Calumpit, Bulacan. Former Representative Jose Antonio “Kuya” Sy-Alvarado and his mother, former Representative Victoria Sy-Alvarado were also in support of the program.

“Tunay po kayong nagmamahal sa aming lalawigan. Kayo po ang susi sa kaunlaran nito at ng bansang Pilipinas,” former Rep. Victoria said.

“Pinaligaya po ninyo kami dahil lagi ninyo kaming nakikita lalo na sa mga sandali ng krisis at kahirapan,” she added.

This initiative builds on the Cayetanos’ previous efforts in Bulacan, where they provided crucial support to flood victims affected by Typhoon Egay just a year ago.

The sibling senators’ social welfare program is set to expand this week to other key areas in Luzon, including Laguna, Marikina, and Pasig, extending support to more Filipinos, particularly those facing crises.
