Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday announced 100 more beneficiaries of the Sampung Libong Pag-asa program during the seventh episode of Sari-saring Bayanihan broadcast live on his official Facebook page.
During the short online program on July 28, 100 beneficiaries coming from various cities and municipalities nationwide, including Metro Manila, Laguna, Palawan, Negros Island, and Pangasinan, received 10K Ayuda from Cayetano and his allies in Congress.
Those who shared the program’s Facebook livestream received an additional P1,000 from the group.
“Tayo naman [ay] hindi nangangako, pero deal natin, mga kaibigan at kapatid sa Facebook: ‘wag kayong mahihiyang magsabi kung mayroon kayong kailangan, lalo sa kalusugan. Sasabihin naman namin kung ano ang kakayanin at hindi, pero hahanap at hahanap ng paraan,” Cayetano said during the Facebook live.
(We are not promising, but let this be our deal, my brothers and sisters and friends on Facebook: do not hesitate to tell us what you need, especially when it comes to health. We will tell you whether we can help, but we are sure that we will always find a way to help.)
Sari-saring Bayanihan is a short online program hosted live by Cayetano and his allies in which they interact with the livestream audience and choose additional beneficiaries for their flagship programs: Sampung Libong Pag-asa and Sari-sari Store Community.
The group also took the opportunity to celebrate Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz’s historic win during the 2020 Summer Olympic Games held in Tokyo, bringing home the country’s first Olympic gold medal after 97 years.
“Iniisip ng iba na, kahit na mahirap gawin y’ung gold medal, iniisip ng iba na naging madali para kay Hidilyn. Hindi,” Cayetano said.
(Others think that, even though it is hard to achieve an [Olympic] gold medal, others think that it was an easy feat for Hidilyn. It was not.)
“Kaya excited ako na makauwi siya at siya’y magkwento sa lahat ng pinagdaanan niya,” he added.
(That’s why I’m also excited for her [Hidilyn] to go home and share her experiences.)
Cayetano expressed hope for young Filipino athletes watching the Olympic Games and urged the government to provide more support for them.
“Sana maraming kabataan na nanonood sa Olympics, katulad sa SEA Games, [ang] maging inspirasyon [sila], at sana sa mga donor at sa gobyerno, lalo nating tutukan ang sports,” he said.
(Hopefully, the youth watching the Olympics and those who watched the 2019 SEA Games will be inspired, and those in the government and the donors will give more attention to sports.)
Cayetano was joined by Taguig 2nd District Rep. Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, ANAKALUSUGAN Rep. Michael “Mike” Defensor, Batangas Rep. Raneo “Ranie” Abu, Bulacan Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado, and Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez.
