Former House Speaker Cayetano on Thursday reiterated that Filipino families need a P10,000 direct stimulus package in order to address the problems brought by the pandemic.
“P500 billion ang idadagdag sa budget next year, sa P200 billion lang ang ilalaan, lahat ng pamilya ay may sampung libo,” Cayetano said in a live stream on October 28, 2021 before the Sari-saring Pag-asa program aired on his official Facebook page.
(There will be an additional P500 billion in the budget next year. We only need P200 billion to give the P10,000 to each Filipino family.)
“Maglaan lang ng P50 to P70 billion, lahat na ng small businesses pati mga ambulant vendors mabibigyan na ng P10,000,” he added.
(If we allocate just P50-P70 billion, all small businesses, including ambulant vendors, can be given P10,000 each.)
Cayetano and his allies in the Balik sa Tamang Serbisyo (BTS) sa Kongreso have been pushing for the inclusion of a P10,000 direct stimulus package in the 2022 national budget for all Filipino families and micro-enterprises such as sari-sari store owners.
“Y’un po ang prayer ko this year that despite the pandemic, or because of the pandemic, matuto tayo at maging year na tunay na pagbabago, o taon na tunay na pagbabago or isang taon po ng transformation natin lahat,” Cayetano said.
(That’s my prayer this year, that despite the pandemic, or because of it, we may be able to see a year of change and transformation.)
The Sari-saring Pag-asa program was spearheaded by Cayetano and his allies to give select sari-sari stores P3,500 to help them restock their inventories. It complements their Sampung Libong Pag-asa initiative.
“Hindi simpleng dole-out ito, sa ganyang pamamaraan ay matulak natin ang gobyerno to do more, and hopefully po na magkaroon ng sampung libong ayuda ang bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” Cayetano said.
(This isn’t a simple dole-out, rather it is a call for the government to answer the need of our countrymen. We hope that this 10K Ayuda will push through and help each Filipino family.)
