Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez thanked former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for his lead in providing aid to pandemic-hit families, urging him to continue the Sampung Libong Pag-asa program to reach more Filipinos in need.
“Unang-una, nagpapasalamat kami sa tulong na pinadala ni Congressman Alan Cayetano dito sa Ormoc City,” Gomez said during the October 11, 2021 edition of the program, which was live streamed on Cayetano’s official Facebook page.

“Natutuwa kami dahil ang mga natulungan nilang mga tao, mga pamilya, talagang magagamit nila itong pondo para sa negosyo nila, makakatulong ito sa pamilya nila,” he added.
(We are happy because those who received the cash aid, the families, they can really use the money to grow their businesses, it will help their families.)
Thirty (30) farmers from Pampanga, Zamboanga del Sur, Leyte and Negros Occidental were given P10,000 in cash aid during Monday’s program.
Another 20 beneficiaries were selected online during the event, for a total of 50 individuals granted assistance nationwide.
Five months after Cayetano and his allies in Congress launched Sampung Libong Pag-asa, the program has provided cash grants to a total of 11,932 families across the country.
For her part, Ormoc City Social Welfare and Development Officer Fe Bahin said her department appreciates Cayetano’s efforts in reaching every corner of the country to give aid to struggling families.
“We are glad that we have two farmers who availed of this program of Congressman Cayetano. I know this is a big help. Even now, since the start of the pandemic, still, hindi pa sila nakakabangon (they haven’t fully recovered),” Bahin said.
Baybay City Mayor Jose “Boeing” Cari also thanked Sampung Libong Pag-asa for aiding farmers in his area.
“Ngayong araw po ibinahagi niyo sa ating napiling mga farmers at saka (mga may-ari ng) sari-sari stores ang tulong niyo, ang Sampung Libong Pag-Asa. Para sa mga magsasaka, maraming salamat po,” Cari said.
